How To Change Your Mindset

Want to change your life? Want to be more positive? Want to be confident? Change your mindset! Right?....Not so fast!

Everyone wants to know the quickest and easiest way to change their mindset, become more positive, and ultimately, change their life. I don’t blame you! I want everything quick and easy too!

But when it comes to your mindset, you can’t just download a list of 5 “tips” and be on your way to a future of rainbows and butterflies. You can try all you want to just “change” your mindset, repeat affirmations, and force yourself to look on the bright side, but that won’t result in lasting change.

Changing your mindset with quick tips is the easy, cheap way out. Changing your mindset by reading one self development book is always going to end with disappointment. Honestly, changing your mindset actually isn’t even the goal to begin with.

The true goal that resides deep below the surface of self development and mindset is this: understand yourself on a deep level, heal the wounds, and come out on the other side as the better, higher vibe version of your truest self.

This healing might be a lot of amazing things - life changing, beautiful, epic - but it sure is not quick or easy. If it was, everyone would be perfect, healed, and angelic - what a world that would be!

For those of you who are trying to “change your mindset” around food restrictions and food freedom, the goal isn’t simply to change the way you think. Rather, it’s to understand why you have the fears and rules in the first place, heal those pain points on a deep level so that the healing is complete and whole, and change the way you live with and interact with food. When you change the way you live, the way you think (aka mindset) will change too.

So, how do you go about making these incredible, life changing shifts for lasting change?

  1. Begin with the NOW. Where are you at now? Start on the surface: fearful, anxious, bored, happy? Dig a little deeper...when did that start? What causes you to feel those things? Why?

  2. Accept the now. Once you understand where your current pain resides, you must be ok with it! This is a judgment free zone! Honor your current reality, knowing that it is indeed temporary.

  3. Heal the wounds. Depending on the type of self development work you’re doing, this is going to look different for everyone. Although it might not be quick or easy all the time, allowing yourself to receive guidance and help from an expert WILL make it a lot quicker and easier than if you were to undertake this journey completely on your own.

  4. Decide on your new truths. With a blank slate, you have the power to decide how you show up in the world. You get to decide how you behave and live. You have the freedom to live your life the way that you want to. Be intentional about how you show up as the best version of you.

  5. Live it and believe it. Now that you’re living by your aligned, truest of truths, you’re going to be behaving differently than before. When you are BEING the highest version of yourself, you’ll be naturally THINKING as the highest version of yourself too. The mindset shifts ultimately solidify at the very last step.

Tools for positivity and a calm mindset can be super helpful - I use mantras, meditation, and journaling daily as some of my favorite tools! But when it comes to real, lasting change, a checklist of tips or rituals isn’t gonna cut it.

Once you’re READY to commit to yourself, the change will happen. This change will be 100% easier with the help of people, programs, and professionals who can guide you. You don’t have to change your life alone!
