Disordered Eating vs Intuitive Eating

One girl goes to lunch with a friend and orders a salad. She’s restricting.

One boy goes to lunch with a friend and orders a burger with fries. He’s bingeing.

One man goes to lunch with a friend and orders a salad. He’s eating intuitively.

One woman goes to lunch with a friend and orders a burger with fries. She’s eating intuitively.

Food freedom is not a menu. It’s a mindset.

For some reason there’s a lot of attachment to extremes when it comes to health. So many people think that in order to have food freedom, you must always be eating foods like chips, cookies, breads, ice cream etc. Those same people think that if you order a salad over fries, you must be dieting and restricting. It’s a black and white perspective that attaches societal expectations to unique individual’s choices.

But, those two scenarios are not necessarily true!

In order to have food freedom, you don’t have to prove yourself by eating foods that are classically labeled as “unhealthy”. In fact, you can have food freedom and never eat dessert, simply because you don’t like sweets and you’re more into salt!

In order to have food freedom, you don’t have to always choose the option that’s traditionally seen as “anti-diet”. In fact, you can have food freedom and choose something more nutrient dense simply because you want to and that option feels more aligned for you in the moment.

The truth is that food freedom is about feeling empowered in your total freedom to make personal choices based in love and guided by intuition.

This level of freedom will look totally different and unique for every individual!

Some people unlock their food freedom and start to…

Eat more desserts.

Let go of macro tracking.

Eat less dairy.

Add more movement into their days.

Eat slower.

Rest more.

Eat less pizza.

Eat more pizza.

It’s all completely unique and beautiful.

Additionally, each individual with experience this freedom manifested in different ways day to day, month to month, and year to year. Your intuition is always guiding you and pointing you in the right direction, and that “right direction” will likely change and evolve as time passes.

That’s why food freedom isn’t a lifestyle. There are no rules or plans or guidelines. Rather, food freedom is a way of being. And that’s also why eating with love & intuition will make its way into other areas of your life, empowering you to ultimately live with love & intuition.

You truly do have the power to unlock this freedom for yourself. The only thing standing in your way is YOU!
